Every Child is a Jewel - 2006

Every Child is a Jewel
“Every Child is a Jewel” project aimed at supporting Tohum Autism Foundation and create public opinion. The project is sponsored by Gilan. Turkey’s prominent and sensitive people, Caroline Koç, Suzan Sabancı Dinçer, Ayşegül Dinçkök, Revna Demirören, Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu, Aslı Soyak, Aysun Kibar, Maria Eliyeşil, Serra Merzeci and Mine Narin’s dreams met with Turkey’s first jewellery brand Gilan’s unique designs. 10 unique jewelleries were designed by these people and sold via auction on the night organized by Gilan. The event took place on 15 December 2006 in Adile Sultan Palace. The whole revenue of the night was granted to Tohum Autism Foundation to be used on ongoing projects.
Here are statements from our night’s prominent design supporters…
I was always interested in extraordinary and different things. I have always thought differences bring colour into my life… So I wanted to bring solutions with a different approach, not dwelling in ordinary patterns. When it comes to a design, also ‘creation’ , I feel the urge to produce extraordinary ideas. When my dear friend Mine wanted me to be part of this project, I was very excited and felt proud.
My dream ring was designed with Gilan with great pleasure. I wished it to be extraordinary, not conventional…
Every child is a jewel, love and a precious seed of the tree of life. The snake figure on the jewel we designed with Gilan, with its meaning bears resemblence to the foundation’s symbol, seed.
Seed is the beginning of life. In ancient civilisations snake represents the first life on earth, water that gives lifes to seed, seven stages of creation and the God of health, Asklepion. This meaningful mystic snake lays on the foundation of this design.
Every subject on the support to children excited me. I am glad to be of help on this beautiful project of my friend Mine Narin. I based myself on my dream bracelet, what I believe in, what I value.
Sun symbolizes energy and me. Home represents family, which I pursue my life long. Ladybug speaks for itself, like in the song we sang as children… Star stands for our stars to shine eternally… Shoes, aren’t they the secret passion of every woman? Fatma’s hand brings charm and protects against evi l eyes. I hope the revenue of the project turns out high and this colloboration between Gilan and Tohum Autism Foundation will be fruitful. With love.
Tohum Autism Foundation’s work is really important. I enjoyed being a part of this project and contributing to it. I hope the designs bring a good revenue and planned projects can be brought into life. Thank you.
Being a part of this project meant really a lot to me. A close relative of mine has autism, therefore I have a personal relationship with the disorder. I experienced problems and the despair in person for many years. My relatives went through very difficult times because of lack of help and knowledge for these very special and wonderful kids.
I greatly respect and admire Tohum Autism Foundation, because they created awareness on the disorder and educated people of this country on autism.
On my dream jewellery for this project, the ball and little sapphires on it represent the world of kids with autism, whereas moon and star stands for our supportive country.
I offer my admiration to everyone who contributes to the project and works towards solving this problem and alleviating its effects. The sun starts to shine now!
Are some lights brighter? Is the success of projects which are conducted together with belief more incandescant?
If the yellow sun of Tohum Autism Foundation is shining with hope upon children’s life, it is thanks not only to our staff, but to the volunteers and institutions who believe in our cause and are willing to help us whenever they can. These wonderful people are our muses and played a substantial role in our current position. Without them nothing could be the same. Our efforts would remain as broken chain links. But when our effort merged with their invaluable support, a perfect chain was formed.
Just like the links of the chains we designed with Gilan!
For me every link of this chain represents our volunteer friends who helped Tohum Autism Foundation…
I dedicate this jewel to them, the jewel symbolizes our strength in cooperation. I would like to thank our friends from the bottom of my heart ın behalf of all our pupils with autism.
“Every child is a jewel” , they cannot be appreciated enough, each one of them is different and special. They are our future… Pearl is a very elegant, special, stylish and always a classical jewel for me. Its smooth surface, color and self-glow reminds me of an innocent child.
This special project was a joyful experience for me. I consider myself happy if I contributed to Tohum Autism Foundation even a little.
With love
I enthusiastically participated in this event which aims to integrate kids with autism into society. I am glad to contribute as much as I can so that children with autism can lead a normal life. All jewels we co-designed with Gilan’s creative director are part of our children, and every each one of them are jewels themselves. I wish happiness for bearers of the jewels and for kids with autism.
I am extremely happy to be involved in this project which helps kids with autism. We wanted to bring in children’s joy, enthusiasm and energy into this design. The flower shaped earrings radiate a positive energy with its turquoise, red and green gemstones. I wish the bearer of the jewel a life full of joy.
I wanted to support Tohum Autism Foundation with the Rumi patterned jewel I co-designed with Gilan’s creative director. I’d like to thank Gilan and Tohum Autism Foundation for their colloboration.
